Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned Content Service Providers (WLCSP) not to carry out their operations without regulations of the authority, getting registrations and approvals of their operations before entering into commercial deal of any company.
The authority has taken the notices on the increasing number of short codes being used for spreading SMS by the commercial companies for marketing and communication purposes. It usually appears on the SMS with company name.
Pakistan Telecommunication Re-Organization Act 1996 (K)(2) said that service providers operate commercially for number planning of specific companies needs approval and oversight of the telecom watchdog.
PTA instructed content providers to get registered themselves within two months otherwise their originated short codes will be terminated after deadline.
